THIS JUST HAPPENED!

Jodi Jett (yes, that’s her real name and no, she’s not related to Joan) is a Kansas-bred and New York City trained filmmaker, improviser, clown, host, and a singer/songwriter with a day job as a physician assistant. She is best known for her 2005 album, Revelations and, in more recent years, combining her music and comedy skills on stage and on the web (24 Hour MVP).

MUSIC was a discovery for Jett after she completed her medical training and realized science wasn’t her greatest passion. As fate would have it, she instantly fell in love with music after seeing a local NYC band named Alice Texas (led by Alice Schneider) in a rare Starbucks appearance. Jett spent the next several years making music with some amazing musicians such as Jane Scarpantoni (Lou Reed), David Berger (Erin McKeown, Alice Texas), Byron Isaacs (Joan Baez, Ollabelle) among others. Revelations was co-produced by Phil Palazzolo (Neko Case, New Pornographers) and songs such as Bedford Avenue and 80s Girl played on over 100 independent radio stations across the country. Her Indie Rock/Alt Country style was compared to that of P J Harvey, Lou Reed and Mazzy Star.

COMEDY SONGWRITING and VIDEO MAKING, starting with a song called Pocket Rocket, a love song from a woman to her vibrator, were Jodi’s next adventure. Her comedy song The Douchebag Song was written for and played by Marc Maron on his 100th WTF podcast.

IMPROV and ACTING were a natural progression from musical comedy, starting at The Peoples Improv Theater (Kristen Schaal, Ellie Kemper) in New York City. Jodi went on to study improv with comedy legends, Susan Messing (Chicago, The Annoyance), Michael Gellman (Chicago, Second City), Miles Stroth (Miles Stroth Workshop, LA), Jet Eveleth (iO), Jessica Allen Eason (UCB) and many more; and to study musical improv at The Magnet Theatre. She has spent several years on the stage with improv teams such as Angel Bacon, Brick and as a founding member of the puppet musical improv team, The Sound and the Furry. She also studied acting at Esper Studio (NYC) and Lesly Kahn and Company (LA).

FILMMAKING and SKETCH COMEDY also continued for Jodi at The PIT as a member of sketch comedy PITtv teamCodswallop. Having already been a storyteller through song, she found a love for telling stories through film and began studying with NYU School of Visual Arts grad, Steven DiCasa. She continued to make short films, music videos, sketch videos and is currently writing a horror film.

CLOWN, also known as the art of being an idiot, has been a newer discovery and passion for Jett. She was first introduced by fellow clown, Jet Eveleth, and has continued her studies with Spain's Aitor Basauri (Spymonkey, UK), John Gilkey (Cirque Du Soleil, LA) and others. She currently performs bi-weekly at Misfists and Anarchy as "Reverend Jo" in a truth-telling, pentecostal-inspired segment she created called Clown Church. She is also one of the founding members of the clown troop, Cirque Duh Foo.

Regardless of the role, what Jodi loves most is the journey.

Jodi moved to Los Angeles in 2012 to continue her creative pursuits and, let's be honest, to soak up some sun. She is incredibly grateful for the support of her family, friends and dog, without whom, “this would all mean nothing.”
